Faith pleases God

Faith pleases God

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. – Hebrews 11:6

Jesus tells us to have faith

And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. – Mark 11:22

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. – Rom 10:17

Faith is the substance and evidence of the things we hope for

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. – Hebrews 11:1

Faith is trusting in God’s words and His authority

wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.  For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.  When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.  And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick. – Luke 7:7-10

Those who are rebellious do not have faith (froward – not willing to yield or comply with what is required; unyielding; ungovernable)

And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith. – Deuteronomy 32:20

We are fearful when we have no faith

And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? – Mark 4:40

Doubt inhibits our faith

And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? – Mt 14:31

Prayer and fasting counteract unbelief

Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?  And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. – Mt 17:19-21

If you have faith and doubt not, it shall be done

Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. – Mt 21:21

Faith works by love

faith which worketh by love – Galatians 5:6

though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing – 1 Corinthians 13:2b

Faith is dead without corresponding action

But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? – James 2:20

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. – James 2:26

Faith can be seen in our actions, what we do

And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. – Mt 9:2

We walk by faith

for we walk by faith, not by sight – 2 Corinthians 5:7

The just shall live by faith

the just shall live by his faith – Habakkuk 2:4b

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. – Romans 1:17

We gain understanding by faith

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. – Hebrews 11:3

We receive from God by faith

But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. – Mt 9:22; Mark 5:34; Luke 8:48

Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. – Mt 9:29

So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. – Galatians 3:9

We are saved through faith

And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace. – Luke 7:50

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God – Eph 2:8

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. – Rom 3:28

We receive the Holy Ghost and His gifts by the hearing of faith

This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? – Galatians 3:2

He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? – Galatians 3:5

And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. – Acts 6:8

Faith is a shield against lies of the enemy

above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  – Ephesians 6:16
