Scripture

Many assume that the Bible usage of the word “Scripture” referenceS the original autographs.  However, virtually each time the word is used it is the copies or even translations of the Scriptures that are in view, e.g. it is the Scriptures that the people had access to.

“But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth” (Dan. 10:21).

“Did ye never read in the scriptures?” (Matt. 21:42)

“Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures” (Matt. 22:29).

“How then shall the scriptures be fulfilled” (Matt. 26:54)?

“That the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled” (Matt. 26:56).

“That the scriptures must be fulfilled” (Mark 14:49).

“The scripture was fulfilled, which saith” (Mark 15:28).
